Marquette man sentenced for breaking into businesses

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A Marquette man who broke into local businesses was sentenced Friday morning in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Luke Barabe received 105 days in jail with credit for 105 days as time already served. He is to pay fines and costs too.

He pleaded guilty to breaking and entering with intent and malicious destruction in a building $1,000 but less than $20,000.

Barabe is accused of breaking into a business on December 22 and on December 25. Officers from the Marquette Police Department responded to a breaking and entering complaint at a business on the 1100 block of North Third Street on Christmas Day around 6:40 p.m. Barabe was still within the business and attempted to flee from police.

Through further investigation, it was determined that he was also the suspect in a breaking and entering of another business in the 100 block of East Hewitt Street.
