Marquette man arrested on larceny, stolen vehicle charges

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - 12/22: After allegedly stealing a car and raiding a Marquette residence, 37-year-old Joseph Manning of Marquette has been arraigned in District Court.

Sunday, 12/17, Marquette Police Department arrested Manning after he was found driving a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier that day. It's believed Manning also stole property from a victim living at Lake Superior Village. The stolen property was later recovered at Manning’s residence.

Manning is charged with larceny in a building, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

During his arraignment, manning was also arraigned in two separate cases for child abuse fourth degree and false report of a felony.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 10th.

Marquette Police Department officers were dispatched to Lake Superior Village for a report of a stolen vehicle on Sunday, Dec. 17 at approximately 9:20 a.m. Through further investigation, it was discovered that property from the victim’s residence was also stolen.

At around noon the same day, officers observed the vehicle traveling on E. Crescent Street and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as 37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette. Manning was arrested for Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (a five-year felony), Larceny in a Building (a four-year felony), and Driving While License Suspended (a 93-day misdemeanor).

The stolen property was later recovered at Manning’s residence.

Manning was lodged in the Marquette County Jail, pending charges from the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.
