Marquette man arrested for OWI after overnight rollover

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A 19-year-old Marquette man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after a rollover crash early Wednesday morning.

According to the Marquette Police Department, officers were called to the area of Presque Isle Avenue and W. Magnetic Street around 12:50 a.m. for a rollover crash. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene. Marquette police later found 19-year-old Austin Lee Hartman and arrested him for operating while intoxicated, driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle and failure to report an accident.

Investigators say Hartman was driving north on N. Fourth Street and tried to turn right onto W. Magnetic Street. He was driving fast and hit a street sign, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side.

Hartman was not injured and was taken to the Marquette County Jail.

Hartman is scheduled for arraignment in Marquette County District Court on Dec. 18.
