Marquette local organizing committee to host Kraft Hockeyville USA 2016 events October 2-3

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - On April 30, 2016, Marquette was named Kraft Hockeyville™ USA, winning the opportunity for Lakeview Arena to host an NHL® Pre-Season game televised on NBCSN, as well as receive $150,000 in arena upgrades provided by Kraft Heinz.

To celebrate Marquette’s win as the most passionate hockey community in America, the local organizing committee is hosting several events leading up to the NHL® Pre-Season game between the Buffalo Sabres® vs. Carolina Hurricanes® at Lakeview Arena on Tuesday, October 4 that will air live on NBCSN at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Sunday, October 2
The Kraft Hockeyville™ USA celebration events will begin Sunday, October 2 with youth clinics at Lakeview Arena, hosted by USA Hockey. NHL legends Brad May, Craig Coxe and Dallas Drake will be in attendance to participate and assist at the clinics.

Following the youth clinics in the morning, a Fun Fair will take place at the Northern Michigan University (NMU) Superior Dome beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Fun Fair will showcase the Stanley Cup as well as various activities for all ages.

Monday, October 3
On Monday, close to 1,000 Marquette Senior High School students will team up to pack 285,000 hunger relief meals at the Kraft Heinz Stop Hunger Now meal packing event at Marquette Senior High School. Stop Hunger Now is a nonprofit partner of the Kraft Heinz Micronutrient Campaign (KHMC) dedicated to the elimination of global hunger.

A parade will take place Monday evening beginning at Pine St. and Fair Ave. and will proceed down Third Street concluding at Marquette Commons where a cookout will be held. The parade will feature the NUTmobile, the Wienermobile and the Buffalo Sabres® and Carolina Hurricanes® mascots and will lead to the cookout location at Marquette Commons, where fans can enjoy a cookout dinner and fun for all ages.
