Marquette Symphony Orchestra Summer Strings performs children's classics

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Kids and adults gathered Wednesday night at the Peter White Library to hear the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Summer Strings perform children's classics.

The string orchestra performed classics from Vivaldi and Mozart, but also played some more contemporary hits like "Let It Go" from Frozen and "Over The Rainbow" from The Wizard Of Oz.

The concert is part of the orchestra's Summer Strings series.

Library youth services staff say it's the perfect way to introduce children to music and performing.

"Concerts like this can inspire kids to want to learn how to play an instrument or to say 'I want to learn how to play piano, I want to learn how to play a string instrument or a woodwind instrument or something like that. So it's really important," said Youth Services Librarian Sarah Rehborg.

The next concert in the Summer Strings series will be Wednesday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. at Ore Dock Brewing Company.
