Marquette Symphony Orchestra musicians prepare for "Collage Concert"

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Musicians from the Marquette Symphony Orchestra are preparing for this weekend's Collage Concert. During the concert, instruments from the whole orchestra will be present in small ensembles.

Over the course of two, 30 minute halves, 16 ensembles will perform pieces from a variety of genres of music; including classical, jazz, and even some Finnish folk.

“When you play on a collage, you play one piece that you choose, that's maybe your favorite or your best that your ensemble plays, and then you're up there,” said Janis Peterson, a violinist in the MSO. “There's a whole lot of love on the stage. Everybody plays what they love and we just all respect each other so much.”

The concert is this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children, and can only be purchased at the door.
