MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Prom is one of the highlights of high school, and this year Marquette Senior High decided to do things a little differently.
The Redmen and Redettes had their 2018 prom downtown at the Marquette Commons. The theme this year is "Downtown Under the Stars." For the first time, the student council decided to have the dance outside in a tent.
"We usually go to a hotel or somewhere indoors, but we decided ya know what we're gonna try it downtown this year because we would have enough space down here and it would be fun," explains Lauren Kurzawa, a student council representative for Marquette Senior High School, and next year's vice president.
For Downtown Under the Stars, the school partnered up with area businesses to provide discounts to their restaurants, stores and other services. Lutey's Flower Shop, Opalus Salon, Donckers, The Delft Bistro, 906 Sports Bar & Grill, Yoop-Phoria, Aubree's and Harley's were all participating businesses.
Marquette seniors graduate on June 3.
