MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Power of Words Project mural in Marquette has been put on hold, following injury to the artist.
The project was making headway up until last week, when the artist painting it was injured.
The mural was being painted on the building on the corner of Ohio and Third Streets, and was expected to be done in late September.
The building owner, Kate Lewandowski, is still looking forward to getting the mural up despite the delay.
"Art is beautiful and I think people enjoy [it], it puts a smile on peoples face," says Lewandowski. "I think its gotten a lot of people involved, many painters involved, so I think it also creates a sense of place for Third Street and area businesses."
The new completion date is estimated to be next spring, as work cannot be done during the winter.
