Staff at Marquette Mountain worked to evacuate the Snowfield Chairlift on Tuesday afternoon.
This comes after a technical malfunction seized the main wheel at the top of the chairlift, but kept the motors running. As a result, staff had to press the emergency stop button.
The lift was then locked out, preventing any movement on the chairlift while people were evacuated.
Ski patrol took control of the situation, working in four, four-man teams to pull riders off the lift.
Standard procedures include using rope to lower riders down to safety.
Hill Management waited at the bottom of the hill to ensure everyone coming off was safe. They also explained what happened.
In the meantime, employees walked up and down the chair line to make sure the riders waiting to be lowered are okay.
The process was expected to take about an hour.
