MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Food Co-op’s Local Farm Tour Series brought visitors to Seeds & Spores Family Farm Sunday.
Despite the gloomy weather, people walk around the farm from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to see the “behind the scenes” of growing produce. On the tour, you could expect to see farm animals, greenhouses, food growing operations and shops.
The Farm Tour Series provides an excellent opportunity for people to ask farmers questions and create a connection to locally sourced food.
"It's important to see how big this operation is and how much work goes into putting food on the table,” said Niikah Hatfield, Seeds & Spores Family Farm House Kitchen Manager, “It also creates a connection with everyone to see where their food is coming from.”
In the evening, Seeds & Spores Family Farm cooked up some seasonal pizzas on their wood fired ovens with fresh ingredients straight from their fields.
Seeds & Spores Family Farms has been working with the Marquette Food Co-op for almost 20 years.
