MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market is expanding to Wednesday nights. Starting June 12 through September 25 from 5 to 7 p.m., the public is welcome to come to Marquette Commons for their new Wednesday Evening Market.

The official 20th season of the summer market begins Saturday, May 25. It will continue every Saturday from 9 to 1 p.m. until October.

Vendor applications for the 2019 season of the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market are now being accepted.

The DDA says there are excited for this season and their additions.

"I'm really hoping we can catch people when they are done with work or off to an evening activity we know there is a long standing culture of going to the camp on the weekends so a Saturday doesn't fit for everyone," said Myra Zyburt.

The DDA board of directors has committed $13,000 to the 2019 operations.

The DDA says the costs for vendors have been adjusted to offset market deficits above this level.
