MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette County Treasurer, Anne Giroux, announced her resignation on Friday, but she's not going far.
Giroux has accepted the position of Finance Manager for Marquette County.
Giroux has served as the Marquette County Treasurer for the past 12 years. She says she will miss most working with the people and getting to educate different community groups about property taxes.
Her new position as the Finance Manager will be more focused on the budget and how the money at the county is spent.
She is looking forward to different challenges with this new position.
“You know the county certainly has a lot of challenges coming up. There are issues with revenues to local governments, funding, post-retirement benefits, things like that,” said Giroux. “A lot of different challenges in the budget is not going to always be fun, but I think that thinking in more that strategic way and trying to overcome those challenges is exciting and I think I can provide some assistance in that regard."
Her resignation is effective October 31, 2019.
A successor will be appointed to complete the rest of her term as Marquette County Treasurer, which goes through December 31, 2020.
Giroux hopes to continue providing staff support for the Marquette County Land Bank Authority and the Marquette County Brownfield Authority.
