Marquette County Sheriff's Office urges caution during snowmobile season

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Snowmobile season is officially underway, and trails are in great shape after the weekend snow storm.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is urging caution though, so everyone can have a safe season.

The main thing to be aware of when snowmobiling is your speed. Maintain a safe, easy to handle speed at all times, as weather and trail conditions can change in an instant.

“Especially on the weekends. There's a lot more people out. You'll see a lot more families out and so it's just best to slow down,” said Marquette County Sheriff, Greg Zyburt.

Drinking and driving a snowmobile is a misdemeanor. The sheriff's office asks that you follow the law and limit your consumption to below the legal limit for driving any vehicle.
