MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Members of the Marquette County Democratic Party were at the Peter White Public Library on Saturday afternoon, listening.
It was the first in the county party's series of listening and outreach tour stops. Members hope to hear the concerns of rural residents in Marquette County. Those in charge say, that the Democratic Party platform may not be for everyone, but they hope find ways to connect with everyone, adding that positive and civil discourse is needed in today's political climate.
“We're trying to bring that back to a few lanes somewhere in the middle here and be all ears,” said Brian Kerrigan, chairman of the Marquette County Democratic Party. “We're not going to have immediate solutions for this, but we've got to start the conversation and dialogue of listening.”
The next stop on the listening tour is at the Crossroads Restaurant in Sands Township on January 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.
