MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette City Commission once again discussed short term rental properties Monday night. The commission is reviewing the ordinance that was passed last year that separates short term rentals into two categories; vacation home and home stays. Vacation homes are limited to four rentals per property, and home stays are limited to three, not including permanent residents. Without the ordinance in place, rentals are limited to one per property, many would like the ordinance to stay in place to allow for more, although not everyone agrees.
“Well I imagine there's probably some people who might not like the idea but we're going to ask the planning commission to give it a serious look so we'll act on whatever they recommend,” Mike Angeli, Marquette’s City Manager.
The commission hopes to pass the reviewed ordinance before May.
