MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC)- The Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club made an exciting announcement Tuesday. They will be expanding their grant program this year.
Due to the success of their annual Fish Boil fundraiser, the club is offering two separate grant cycles. One cycle will give out smaller grants of $500 to $2,500. While a larger cycle will give out grants of up to $15,000. The majority of their grants are given to youth organizations in Marquette County.
The Rotary Club says the growth is all thanks to their generous donors.
“People realize there's a lot of need out there,” said Jim Cantrill, Co-Chair of the Marquette Breakfast Rotary Contributions Committee. “We know that some of the social safety nets that traditionally we could rely upon, and a tax base or what have you, simply aren't there. So there's a lot of youth and people who go wanting. People are willing to open up their pocketbooks.”
The deadline for grant applications is February 8t. The rotary club's annual Fish Boil is scheduled for June 15. More information can be found at http://www.mqtbreakfastrotary.com/.
