MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) - The rain may have delayed the unveiling a little but it didn't dampen the spirits as Mansitique came out to celebrate their first Power of Words mural.
The word "discover" is at the heart of the mural that was seen in it's entirety for the first time today.
Months ago over 1500 people cast votes and chose discover as the word they wanted to represent Manistique.
Artist Mia Tavonatti worked with professional, local and student artists to complete the project that was begun in early July.
At 23 feet high by 85 feet long it is the largest mural in Upper Michigan.
Carrie Lambert was one of the four local artists that contributed to the mural.
"I think it shows the pride. It shows what the town represents. That we have a community that can work together and that can pull this off and that we are a community that is as strong as the painting itself."
Tavonatti plans to return to the U.P. next summer to do more Power of Words Project murals.
