MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) held their quarterly board meeting in Marquette Thursday morning at the Peter White Public Library.

MBA board discussed the annual bridge walk, tower painting progress, toll software updates and future events.

The two-year south tower painting project is now half way complete. They will be finishing the bottom portion of the tower next summer, which will complete this cycle of the whole bridge painting project.

MBA executive secretary Kim Nowack says she’s excited to continually provide Upper Peninsula residents with updates and upgrades.

“We keep the bridge maintained very well and [U.P. residents] can tell that every time they go across in the summer time when they see us out there working in the construction mode," said Nowack. "We take advantage of every nice summer day we can get out there and work on repairs as needed.”

A MBA finance meeting was also held in Marquette on Wednesday. The next board meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 25th and 26th in the Grand Rapids area.
