MISH Waterfront Fall Race attracts larger crowd than last year

GLADSTONE, Mich. (WLUC) - On Saturday, runners and walkers from all over competed in the MISH Waterfront Fall 5K and 10K race along the shoreline in Gladstone.

This is the second year this event has been hosted in the area.

Racers started at the Terrace Bay Hotel, made their way to Van Cleve Park to turn around and finish back at the hotel.

Despite the cooler temperatures Saturday, organizers say there was an increase in participation from last year’s total.

“It’s exciting to see a lot of new faces out here, and people taking advantage of the event so we’re just excited to get people in the area, while highlighting our area as a waterfront destination and show people a good time, so it’s nice to provide an event that people can get out, be active and enjoy the outdoors,” said Rick Elrod, the MISH Waterfront Race Director.

Elrod adds he’s happy these events are exciting to people.

He looks forward to making improvements to attract even more participation in future years.
