MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Township roundabouts construction project is moving into its next phase this week and motorists need to know about a big traffic shift.

Beginning Tuesday, September 17, traffic will shift to the north side of the highway using the north half of the new roundabout. This shift will happen at the roundabout in front of the west entrance to Walmart.
Next week the shift will happen for the Brickyard Road/US-41 roundabout.
As with all construction, MDOT is asking all motorists to be especially alert.
"You'll see a new traffic pattern, so absolutely, we ask that motorists pay attention, always pay attention and drive courteously and with caution and give room to other motorists and the workers," said MDOT Construction Engineer, Al Anderson.
Anderson also said the project is just about on schedule. They hope to have both roundabouts paved and ready for use before the winter. Next spring finishing touches will be completed on the project.
