MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - After stopping at Marquette Senior High School, Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist visited Invent@NMU. There Gilchrist met with the team and students who help run Invent@NMU and the Innovate Marquette Smartzone.
They explained how the process works and how they help would-be inventors see their ideas go from dreams to reality. Gilchrist seemed very interested in the process of encouraging new ideas and innovations in the U.P. and across the state.
"That's the kind of innovation that exists here and it's cool because this is a space that doesn't discriminate, anyone who comes with an idea has the opportunity to see that idea be fruitful and that's exactly the type of innovation and partnership and collaboration we need to support and this is a model for the state," said Gilchrist.
Gilchrist also visited the Black Rocks Brewery canning facility, the Marquette Food Co-op and Able Medical devices Tuesday before heading back down state.
