Local high school students raise money by selling deer blinds

ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Local high school students from across Delta County were hands-on in the classroom Tuesday building deer blinds.

This is a part of a class in the Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District.

The blinds are at different stages of construction from framing to walls and even roofing. Once the deer blinds are complete, the students will sell them to the community.

They then will use the money to put back in class or any other school related activities.

“It helps the kids interact with each other from different districts, and once they draw their plans, they’re pretty much on their own. If they get stumped, they pretty much have to go back to their drawings and figure out what they can do different, or how they’re going to approach fixing it, so it is a valuable learning lesson,” explained Jim Baxter, the Building Trades Instructor.

The deer blinds are up for sale now. Baxter encourages people to purchase while supplies last.
