MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, local businesses are gearing up for the popular holiday.
In fact, Elizabeth's Chophouse in Marquette is expecting quite the crowd for dinner.
"Valentine's Day every year is completely sold out. It's fully booked and that does migrate to the days before and after because there's not enough seats and frankly, not everyone has the day that Valentine's Day falls on available,” said Elizabeth’s Chophouse Owner and Executive Chef, Tom Wahlstrom.
Wahlstrom adds that people make their Valentine’s Day reservations as early as one year ahead of time.
In order to prepare for the holiday, the restaurant adds Valentine’s Day specials and even has a separate Valentine’s Day menu.
"For this holiday and every holiday, we do a lot of changes. We'll do some decor changes, we'll do some linen changes, and more staffing, obviously,” Wahlstrom added.
Flower Works is also busy preparing for what they say is their busiest day of the year.
"We do a lot of deliveries for these few days here, and we have a lot of extra help for delivering. But we also get a lot of walk-ins,” said Flower Works Owner, Andrea Forsberg.
In order to keep up with all of the orders and deliveries, Forsberg adds that she has to order large quantities of roses and other types of flowers.
"They come in more shipments because of the volume of it. You figure out, based on your experience, how much you need,” Forsberg said.
