HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly in Hancock is preparing for its holiday charity programs.

Little Brothers is in the process of gathering food to donate to senior citizens in the Copper Country. The organization prepares meals for the elderly on Thanksgiving and packages of food and personalized gifts for Christmas. The group also donates firewood to help keep the elderly warm all winter.

"We could not do this, all of the celebrations for holidays, without the help of the community whether it's volunteers or donors. For example, with our Christmas boxes a lot of the community churches donate certain items for each of those boxes," said Carol Korpela, Program Director for Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly Upper Michigan Chapter.

Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly is still looking for volunteers and will be accepting volunteer reservations up until Thanksgiving Day.
