MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - When you think of libraries, books usually come to mind. But one library in Marquette has a different collection of items that community members can now check out.
Peter White Public Library offers a “Library of Things.” These are non-book items that patrons can use for a limited time.
It started with two telescopes donated by the Marquette Astronomical Society. Since then, they have slowly added things to the collection. These items include Polaroid cameras, a selection of cake pans and two types of ukuleles.
“Those are all great learning tools that families can enjoy doing together, so it’s a real advantage. But, not everyone can afford a telescope in their household, so the library can offer those things and make them accessible to the public,” said Margaret Boyle, Circulation Department Head at Peter White Public Library.
The library is always looking to grow their “Library of Things” and is currently accepting donations.
