MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - You can find healthy probiotics in certain foods, but did you know you can also get them from a drink? As part of our Get Healthy Campaign, we decided to look into the benefits of kombucha.
Kombucha is a fermented, sparkling tea beverage that contains probiotics similar to those found in yogurt. People drink it all around the world for its purported health benefits, including improved digestion and reduced anxiety.
On Friday, the Mama’s Booch Kombucha Brewing Company offered samples at the Marquette Food Co-op.
“I’m Mama,” Owner Dana Tuma said. “Mama's Booch was named by our 2-year-old daughter, who would beg for her favorite drink with meals. It's a probiotic, helps with joint pain, arthritis. It relieves constipation.”
Kombucha contains only trace amounts of alcohol, and it safe to give to children. Mama’s Booch is now available in 15 stores in the area, including the Marquette Food Co-op.
