MENOMINEE, Mich. (WLUC) - The only Kmart store remaining in Upper Michigan is set to close by the end of the year.
A company spokesperson says the store in Menominee is planned to close by mid-December, with liquidation sales are expected to begin in mid-September.
"After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Kmart stores in Belleville, Hastings, Menominee, Midland, Clio, Grayling, Oscoda and Marine City, Michigan," said spokesman Larry Costello.
Sears Holdings Corp. announced Saturday its Kmart chain will close all but three of its remaining 11 locations in Michigan. Sears filed for bankruptcy last year.
