The large engines that have been stored on the docks at the Certainteed Plant in L’Anse have been moved in preparation for their transport to the new A.J Mihm Generating Plant in Baraga Township.

According to a Certainteed Plant security guard, they were moved Monday further back on the plant’s property to a secured location.

The engines are currently located on a private dock and will be delivered one by one to generating station in Baraga Township.

The generators were unloaded onto the dock in late May, they have been stored there over the past 3 months.

UMERC and Transport Company Vic’s Crane and Heavy Haul Inc. will begin to move the oversized load starting on Sunday evening. The moves are planned to begin by 10 p.m. and finish by 5 a.m. to minimize traffic delays.
