MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Earlier this morning, the Lowe's Hero program had volunteers get their hands dirty upgrading part of the Lake Superior Village apartments. Renovations included mailboxes, a number of signs, and two playgrounds to surprise residents and their kids later in the day.

Donations including sand came from Smith's constructuion, paint was provided by Sherman Williams, and Lowe's chipped in about $3,500 worth in merchandise.
Lowes' service manager, Nikki Hanner says she estimates the total amount in donations came close to about $6,000-$7,000.

"Helping other customers love where they live," Hanner said. "Being out here and seeing the kids' faces today is just going to be priceless, and just building a relaitonship within our community and enjoying ourselves and enjoying our associates and the teams that we have."
