MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Earlier Friday evening, Kyle Johnson, the only survivor of the crash, dropped the first puck at the Marquette Mutineer's hockey game against the Calumet Wolverines.

Jacob and Kyle Johnson’s Iron Range Miners’ hockey team also sold 50/50 tickets in support of the Johnson Strong Fund.

Greg Pond, one of the family's friends, expected the crowd to be emotional but is happy to see the community support the family during this difficult time.

"It's great that he is finally out of the hospital, he just got out of the hospital yesterday,” said Pond. “Thankfully, he's going to be okay, imagine he'll have a big hurdle with emotional items, but tonight's going to be a very touching thing to see Kyle out there."

The family is thankful for all the help they've received during this time.
