Kingsford teen pleads guilty to lesser home invasion and weapons charge

DICKINSON COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A Kingsford man who’s accused of breaking into a home and threatening several occupants of the residence pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Thursday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Brandyn Ray, 17, plead guilty to home invasion-third degree and assault-weapon.

He was originally charged with home invasion-second degree and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The Iron Mountain Police Department dispatched via 911 to a possible home invasion on February 7. The call came in around 11:43 PM. It was reported that Ray kicked in the door of a residence on the 600 block of East A Street in Iron Mountain.

Ray threatened the occupants of the home with a knife. Ray was subdued by the residents just prior to officers arriving on scene.

A sentencing date is set for May 20.
