IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Eighth graders in Kingsford turned their reading assignment into a real life situation Thursday morning.
After finishing the book "The Outsiders," the class visited the Dickinson County Circuit Court. Each student was given a role as they acted out a trial for a character accused of murder.
This experience helped the students better understand their book and also the judicial system.
"It was pretty fun,” eighth grader Charlie Christesen said. “I got to see a lot of what court was about and it was kind of funny at some points too."
"I learned that the judge doesn't speak much,” another eighth grader, Holly Richer, said. “I kind of thought that the judge would speak a lot more. It was just kind of fun and is something new."
The whole trial was streamed live to the Kingsford Middle School Facebook page.
