KINGSFORD, Mich. (WLUC) - Breitung Township Schools’ commitment to excellence exceeds far beyond academics. BTS is committed to the safety and well-being of its students. With this in mind, Kingsford Public Safety will now have an office space at Kingsford High School.
The Public Safety School Liaisons, Officers Tim Olson and Brandon Rutter, who have been assigned to BTS as School Liaison Officers assist in maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors will now share these responsibilities with other officers from KPS. Over the years, the School Liaison Officers have been visible on campus through frequent visits and class presentations, but they will now be more accessible than ever before.
In addition to a stronger presence from the School Liaison Officers, other KPS officers will also use the office at KHS. Their enhanced presence on campus will allow them to build more trusting relationships between students and law enforcement and reinforce the message of community collaboration that is at the core of any safe community.
The Kingsford Public Safety Office at KHS will have flexible hours and the partnership will be at no cost to the district. Both Breitung Township Schools and Kingsford Public Safety look forward to further developing the relationship between their two agencies to benefit the students of BTS.
