MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Earlier Saturday the Iron Range Hockey Association held a Johnson Strong memorial - fundraiser at the Negaunee Ice Arena.
It was the Miner's first home game and the second game against the Marquette Junior Wildcats.
The ceremony dedicated a banner and jerseys to Will and Jake who passed away in January and to Kyle who is still recovering.
All the proceeds from the t-shirt sale, car decals, 50/50 raffles and silent auction will be given to the Johnson family to defer funeral and medical cost.
“It's been unbelievable- the local businesses the other hockey associations, and of course the parents from all levels from junior hockey up to the midget level have been incredibly supportive. And, you know, it makes you realize it is a hockey family.” Said Head Coach, Chris Holmgren
The Johnson's announced at the ceremony they will be giving $1,000 to the Iron Range Hockey Association to help players in need.
