Jim Reevs retires after 42 year career in news

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Friday night was the retirement party for a 42-year media veteran Jim Reevs. Reevs spent the past 27 years with the mining journal as Publisher and General Manager.

State Representative Sara Cambensy presented Reevs with a plaque from the state recognizing his years of service in the media industry. Reevs says he's ready for retirement but will still be active with a number of different charity groups and events.

"I guess by talking with people today and over the last couple days, and calls from people who couldn't be here tonight and people that are here tonight, they tell me I made a difference so, mission accomplished," said Reevs. "They can carve out the headstone and say I did what I wanted to, I wanted to make a difference."

Reevs says he is still looking forward to staying involved with volunteering during his retirement, especially with the Salvation Army and United Way.
