ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Ishpeming City Council readopted the resolution to support the Jasperlite Senior Housing Project. This renewal comes after the project was not awarded the low income housing tax credit to Michigan State Housing Development Authority on April 3.
After meeting with MSHDA several times and expanding their investment narrative in the City of Ishpeming, Jasperlite is reapplying for MSHDA funds on October 2nd.
With Wednesday’s approval from the city council, Jasperlite feels they are in a more competitive position in their senior housing plans for Ishpeming.
“It’s a great thing for this community to have more senior housing. We know the demographic of our society are aging, but Jasperlite is a good place for people to live and I hope the state will give it its dues,” Ishpeming City Manager Mark Slown said.
This was a special meeting for the City of Ishpeming. Their next monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, October 4.
