ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Another U.P. State Fair is in the books and officials say, it's one of the most successful to date.
The fair's previous attendance record was 87750 and fair officials are saying it looks like overall attendance was up around 5% this year.
Good weather overall is being cited as the primary factor behind the rise in attendance. Even those who have been working the fair for years say they can't remember the last time when zero days were lost to rain, which was the case this year.
Vickie Micheau is a fair administrator who said this year's fair was a great success and thanked fairgoers.
"We're very very thankful for the support that this fair receives from the Upper Peninsula community and of course the rest of the region state wide. We're already working on next year."
The official attendance numbers are being calculated and we'll be sure to bring them to you when they come out later this week.
