ISHEPMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Ishpeming Police Department is investigating a personal injury crash that happened Wednesday morning at the US-41 and Lakeshore Drive intersection.
Just before 9:40 a.m., a 2009 Chevy Impala traveling westbound on US-41 disregarded the traffic light at struck at 2000 Mercury traveling northbound on Lakeshore Drive.
Two people in the Impala and one in the Mercury each complained about minor injuries.
The driver of the Impala was cited for Disregarding a Traffic Light.
The Ishpeming Police Department was assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff's Department, the Ishpeming Fire Department, and U.P. Health System EMS.
According to the Ishpeming Police Department, this is the tenth accident at that intersection this year, with 20 vehicles involved and six reported injuries. Four of the accidents were caused by a vehicle disregarding a traffic control device. Four more were listed where a driver failed to yield the right of way. One accident happened when someone failed to stop within the assured clear distance, and the other was caused by a vehicle striking an object in the roadway.
The Ishpeming Police Department is reminding motorists to always stay alert and use caution, especially at this intersection.
