Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library holds cosmic escape room

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library is hosting a space-themed escape room this week.

Participants are in their final day of NASA training according to Library Director, Jesse Shirtz.

The mission is designed for kids 8 and up to solve puzzles and locate special launch codes within the 45-minute launch window.

Shirtz says kids will come away with a new knowledge of the planets in our solar system, but only if they complete the mission in time to finally unlock the lock box containing the launch codes.

It's all part of the library's summer reading program, themed "A Universe of Stories," which helps promote reading at all ages.

"We have programming and opportunities to get involved in the readings program from birth to adult. We don't care what you read. We just want you to read. In exchange you can have the opportunity to win some great prizes,” Shirtz asserted.

The escape room also runs Thursday. The summer reading program will extend into early August.
