Iron River man still is missing

IRON RIVER, Mich. (WLUC) - It's still a mystery as to what happened to Jay Dee Luckey.

The last reported sighting of the 47-year-old Missouri man was at Snyder’s in Iron River around 3:30 pm on October 23. Since then, his family hasn't heard anything and can't seem to put the pieces of the puzzle together either.

"None of the tips from to the Iron County Sheriff has panned out at all yet, so no one knows exactly what happened,” said Melody Ross, Luckey’s cousin.

Family members say jay was a loving family guy, who enjoys being outside and doing construction.

Thus, when his family received the news from Luckey’s ex-girlfriend that he had gone missing, they were completely thrown off.

"This was really out of the blue for Jay to do this. He loved his kids, his two little ones, he loved them so much,” said Ross.

"It's very unusual for Jay to take off like this, very unusual.

During this time, Ross says it’s important for the family to stick together so they've been doing everything they can to find their loved one.

"I've been out on my own looking in like the ditches in case of like he got hit by a drunk driver or whatever, and my mom's been out trying to look down there too, and his dad owns a lucky bates shop out in Baits, and he's been getting all of the tips too, and none of them have panned out,” said Ross.

Luckey's disappearance has taken a huge toll on the family, and now they just want to make sure he's safe.

"Yeah Jay, you do mean a lot to the family. Your family is worried. You should at least call, text, say that you're okay,” said Chesta Morris, Luckey’s friend.

Anyone with information about Luckey’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Iron County Sheriff's Office at (906) 875-0650. In the meantime, they'll continue looking for him.
