IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Everyone in Iron Mountain is Italian on Saturday, as the 13th annual Italian Fest returns to downtown.
The festival is set to take place in the city parking lot located at the intersection of East A street and Iron Mountain Street. An opening ceremony featuring the Italian national anthem will begin at noon.
The Mayor of Iron Mountain's sister city, Sassoferato, Italy, will be visiting for the festivities.
New to Italian Fest this year is wine tasting by Lo Duca Wines, an authentic Italian winery. There will be food, dancing and many events until 11 p.m.
“It's a staple for this community and we're really excited about it. It's just a celebration of the strong, Italian heritage of this area. It's a very family friendly event,” said Downtown Development Authority’s Event Coordinator, Amber Pipp.
This year's Italian Fest is sponsored by Liuna, Local 13-29 Laborers Union.
Tickets are $8 at the entrance. All proceeds benefit the Iron Mountain DDA.
