IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Iron Mountain's City Council introduced a proposed ordinance amendment on Monday night, which would allow additional medical marijuana licenses.
The amendment allows up to three more medical marijuana facilities but for growing and processing only.
Previously, the council issued provisional licenses to two downstate businesses, RIZE and Attitude Wellness for growing, processing and selling.
By allowing more licenses, it protects the larger facilities while still adding more business.
"There was a request for at least possibly adding grow and processing and that was considered and looked at and we will now move forward,” said Iron Mountain’s City Manager Jordan Stanchina.
There will be a public hearing regarding the proposed amended ordinance on November 4, at 6 p.m. at the Iron Mountain City Hall.
