NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan Iron Industry Museum is giving the public a chance to learn local history on wheels. The museum held one of three summer bike tours Friday morning.
The 15-mile tour starts at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum into Ishpeming and back on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. They stop at several spots to learn more about iron history.
Museum officials said it’s a great way for both tourists and locals to experience the area.
"We've had kind of a mix of people. Local people want to learn more about the history in their backyard,” said Troy Henderson, Historian at The Michigan Iron Industry Museum. “We've had people from Chicago coming up for this. Today we have a couple from downstate."
Three people attended Friday’s tour. Two more tours are scheduled for Friday, July 19, and Friday, July 26.
The $25 cost includes lunch. Preregistration is required.
