The 2019 class of new members were initiated earlier Thursday afternoon into Alpha Lambda Delta’s National Honor Society at the Chapel of St. Matthew on Finlandia University’s campus.

This organization honors first-year students who earn a 3.5 grade point average during their first semester of college.

After this special ceremony, students are welcomed to take part in a variety of development opportunities to increase their growth at the university.

“It helps students to recognize the importance of doing well as a student, but the other part is that it creates yet another kind of point of community for our students to really become active members of Finlandia University, and to really do their best while they're here including in academics, and public service and in just social opportunities,” said Finlandia University’s National Honor Society’s Co-advisor, Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen.

The Finlandia University chapter has only been on the campus for three years. But, they are continuously working to make a great impact on their students.
