MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The City of Marquette’s Household Rubbish and Compost site will open Monday, April 22.
The Household Rubbish site, located at 1415 Pioneer Road, is a site for city residents paying the “solid waste” fee to dispose of household items too large for curbside pickup. The daily capacity of this site is regulated by the MDEQ and once capacity is met, the site will close, without exception.
The site is opening Monday, April 22 and will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., as well as on the second Saturday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. Again, the site may close early on nay day if capacity is met.
Extra days have been added to the first two weeks to assist in spring cleaning. The site is open from 3 to 7 p.m. (or when capacity is met) on April 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, and 30, as well as May 1 and 2.
Regular hours will begin May 6.
The Compost site, also located at 1415 Pioneer Road, is opening Tuesday, May 4 and will be open each Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents must bring a photo ID and a current city water bill showing a “solid waste” fee payment to enter both sites.
