Houghton County man arrested for assault

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - A Houghton County man has been arraigned in Houghton County District Court after being arrested for pointing a loaded rifle at a sheriff deputy last month.

36-year-old Benjamin Timothy Riutta has been charged with receiving and concealing weapons and firearms, assault, resisting and assaulting a police officer, and using firearms under the influence.

Riutta’s next court date is scheduled for June 19 at 1 p.m. and his bond is set at $10,000.
