Houghton County man sentenced for assault

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: 1/22/2020
Benjamin Riutta was sentenced for assault charges.
He was sentenced for the following:
Count 2: Home invasion 2nd degree- 3 years 8 months to 15 years in prison
Count 2: Assault with a weapon- 2 years 8 months-4 years in prison
Count 3: Assault of a police officer-12 months-24 months in prison.
A Houghton County man has been arraigned in Houghton County District Court after being arrested for pointing a loaded rifle at a sheriff deputy last month.

36-year-old Benjamin Timothy Riutta has been charged with receiving and concealing weapons and firearms, assault, resisting and assaulting a police officer, and using firearms under the influence.

Riutta’s next court date is scheduled for June 19 at 1 p.m. and his bond is set at $10,000.
