MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Northern Michigan University is celebrating it's fifth annual Anderton’s Earth Week. Several activities are planned to honor Dr. John Anderton, a former geography professor and department head, who passed away unexpectedly in March 2014.

Throughout the week, students will be holding an art installation, prompting passersby’s with environment related questions. They will also be watching films, playing games, and listening to guest speakers.

"Every night we have speakers coming in to talk about land management, their preservation, climate change, civic engagement and even the municipalities in Marquette,” said Kit Collins, geographical honors society president.
