Historic fort complex at Fort Wilkins Historic State Park to temporarily close Sept. 17

The historic fort complex at Fort Wilkins Historic State Park will close temporarily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17 for a Michigan Cares for Tourism volunteer work bee.

Only the fort complex will close temporarily. Park trails, campgrounds, the park store and other features will remain open.

A total of 125 volunteers from across Michigan will be working on more than 20 service projects throughout the park, including at the fort complex, campgrounds, park trails and more.

The day use area will re-open the following morning. Visitors are invited to visit Tuesday, Sept. 18 to see all the work that was completed as a result of the effort.
