MOHAWK, Mich. (WLUC) - Helping Hands of the Keweenaw holds a soup & pulled pork fundraiser on Saturday, January 19. Helping Hands of the Keweenaw is an outreach ministry of Bethany Lutheran Church in Mohawk.

The meal includes barbecued pulled pork sandwiches from Fitzgerald’s Restaurant. There will also be a bake sale, a 50/50 Raffle, and a quilt raffle. The team disburses $10,000 annually to the community.

Helping Hands was established by an anonymous downstate couple to help families in need in Keweenaw & northern Houghton counties.

"The majority of our funds usually go to utility bills that are unmanageable or unable to be met, medical costs. A lot of our recipients are working families, but emergencies come up and they are short for this month or that month," said Helping Hands Member Toni Waara.

The fundraiser is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Horizons School in Mohawk.
