MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - If you're looking for a better way to treat issues you may have with soft tissue damage or inflammation there is somewhere new for you to go. Adrienne Roberts Therapy opens next Monday in Marquette.
Adrienne Roberts is the only active release techniques practitioner in the Upper Peninsula that has a full body certification with long tract nerve entrapment. The practice treats damage caused by scar tissue to soft tissue texture, tension, and movement.
"ART let's you use your hands to find the problem, change that, release those things, and then that leads to changes in those three things," said Roberts.
ART treats soft tissue damage that you may get from exercising, doing yard work, or even working in an office. Treating these issues with ART can be intense, but it'll save you from years of medicine, shots, or other therapy.
"Of course everybody is different, but it's short term,” said Roberts. “I do see people that come monthly for checkups, or athletes that want to really get in that tip top shape and keep moving at their best."
Adrienne herself needed a different kind of treatment in the past year; back in February she was working out when she noticed a problem.
"Not anything crazy, not heavy weights, and all of a sudden, I couldn't see, half of my eyesight was gone," said Roberts.
Adrienne had an arteriovenous malformation as well as an occluded vein that caused cerebral hemorrhaging. Treatment included brain surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
"They took great care of me, I ended up having two angiograms, multiple MRIs, it's been an interesting year," said Roberts.
After a long recovery Adrienne was ready to get back to work, but her priorities were different. Opening her own practice has given her the freedom to work when and how she wants.
"I do want to be able to balance work and family and see my kids, because time is short with them, and I want to make the most of it," said Roberts.
She says she feels as if she has been given a second chance, and is excited to get back to helping others feel healthy as well.
"The connection that you have when you're helping people get back to 100% with something that they thought they were going to have to live with forever, or have to have surgery and it's gone; it's amazing," said Roberts.
